European beer is a diverse and traditional product, rooted in agriculture. In fact, we shouldn’t really talk about beer, but beers, with Europe being the home to a hundred plus different beer styles and forty thousand different beers. Brewing in every EU Member State, Europe’s three and a half thousand breweries are rooted in their local environments, often producing a beer to meet local tastes and contributing socially and economically to their communities.

As the data of the Main Statistical Office indicate, sales of beer in Poland raised by 3.2% until August this year. Cold and rainy summer did not work in favor of the industry, on the other hand spring was significantly better than last year.

Representatives of the brewing industry declared to be willing to establish such a Forum during the seminar „Civic Education – Alcohol and Society”, which was organised by the Union of the Brewing Industry Employers in Poland and the The Brewers of Europe on Monday, 28 November 2011.

The topic of the Seminar attracted experts from various fields, but focused on working out real and effective ways to prevent adverse effects of irresponsible alcohol consumption, as well as the role which can be played in these activities by all organisations, which want to participate in shaping the culture of responsible alcohol consumption.
